Planning for a wedding and honeymoon can be an expensive time. Use those expenses to your advantage by getting one of the best credit cards for your honeymoon! That way, you'll not only have a stash of points for travel- you'll also have new travel perks to make the trip more luxurious.

This post covers what to look for in an ideal card, and the specific cards I recommend.

How to pick the best credit card for honeymoon

Consider these factors:

  • Sign-up bonus: Many credit cards offer attractive sign-up bonuses, helping you to earn a lot of points after spending a certain amount within the first few months.

  • Luxury travel perks: Some travel cards offer benefits that make your travel more comfortable, such as airport lounge access or Uber reimbursements. Think about which benefits matter most to you!

  • Travel insurance and protections: Some credit cards provide travel insurance, trip cancellation/interruption coverage, rental car insurance, and other travel-related protections. This can save both time and money because you might not need to purchase incremental protections.

  • Annual fee: Consider whether the card's benefits outweigh the annual fee. Some travel cards come with higher annual fees but also offer more extensive rewards and perks.

  • No foreign transaction fees: If you plan to travel internationally for your honeymoon, this is essential (all of the cards I mention in this post offer this benefit!)

This card is a fantastic choice if you're looking for something with a reasonable annual fee, strong points earning potential, and awesome travel insurance. This is the card I personally put spend on as I was preparing for my own honeymoon! It's my top-recommended card to friends and family who are looking for their first travel credit card for earning and redeeming credit card points and miles.

Use this card for your catering expenses (3x points on dining!)!

  • Sign-up bonus: Spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months to earn 75,000 points

  • Bonus categories: 3x points for every $1 spent on dining/online grocery/streaming services, 2x points for every $1 spent on travel

The Amex Business Platinum is a fantastic alternative to the personal version of this card, if you're a business owner. It comes with the same incredible lounge access perks, like Centurion Lounge access. However, the rest of the perks are more geared toward maximizing benefits relevant to your business.

  • Welcome Offer: Earn 200,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $20,000 in eligible purchases on the Card within the first 3 months of Card Membership.
